The Challenge
A vibrating screen was designed to separate stones to different sizes, 200 tons per hour,. Instead the company used it to run 300 tons of stones per hour, 50% beyond its nominal capacity. So, the bearings used in the screen mechanism were undersized for this specific application, resulting with overheating and almost seizing up within 2 to 3 weeks of operation.
The Polytron Solution
The grease that was used by the company was replaced with Polytron EP-2 Lithium Complex Grease. After few hours of operation with Polytron grease the temperature of the bearings went down and remained down from that point on.
